Scott is a lifelong learner, having a MBA from the University of Chicago and a law degree from Michigan State University, where he graduated 9th out of 289 students and earned a full-tuition scholarship based on academic excellence.
Scott first started teaching as a lead TA in macroeconomics at Michigan State University. Scott was recruited to tutor the Michigan State University football and basketball team, among other sports. There, Scott learned the value of efficiency in tutoring given the athletes had very demanding schedules outside of academics. Scott worked in that high-paced (and pressured) role for over two years and coached all subjects including writing, grammar, math, and economics.
After graduating with a MBA from the University of Chicago in 2018, Scott started to brainstorm ways to stay involved with teaching and academics. He started working at a prominent tutoring company in the North Shore of Chicago primarily in ACT and SAT preparation. He has since tutored 6000+ hours in the space, now personally coaching over 200 students to the 95th+ percentile of the ACT/SAT.
Scott has carefully studied the test prep industry over the years and has molded a teaching style that is centered around efficiency. Starting with homework, Scott encourages his students to send answers to homework before the session, which allows him to grade the entirety of the homework before stepping into the session. This approach yields two benefits: (1) it does not waste any time session grading; and (2) the tutor can be more prepared headed into the session and can create more bespoke lesson plans.
With instruction, Scott adopts pieces of the Socratic method from his law school days. Repetition on core principles is also critical to success and will necessarily be different for each student.
With these principles in mind, Scott founded Paramount Prep with the goal of providing the most efficient tutoring instruction in the world. He has since worked with students in New York City, Chicago, Los Angeles, Nashville, Indianapolis, Toronto, and Mumbai and absolutely loves working tirelessly to help students maximize their academic potential.
What makes us unique
Personalized Recommendations
There are no one-size-fits-all plans here. Everything we do is custom-made to fit each student and their unique goals. Each student learns differently, and we tailor our problem-solving approach for all our students to help them achieve the progress they’re striving for.
Homework Graded Before Session
Every minute of our sessions is critical. That’s why we belive that time should not be wasted grading homework. Students will submit work beforehand so the tutor can grade and prep a custom plan with growth opportunities from the homework in mind.
Session Recaps
With us, you’ll receive detailed notes after each session, including homework results, breakthroughs, and an action plan for moving forward. Our tutors understand it is important that both our students and their parents are informed, which is why no one is left in the dark here.
Structured but Understanding
We have big goals and find the best success with regular schedules at regular times. But life can happen, even at a moment’s notice. We do not charge any fees for last minute cancellations. Bringing a human element to tutoring can reduce stress of the overall process and bring about the best results.
